Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore...

Students

Today I woke up in an Emo mood. I started thinking about our planet and the sudden climate changes we are experiencing. That's why I decided to have you read about global warming.

In groups, I want you to discuss the following questions:

What do you do to stop global warming?
What do authorities in your city/country do to stop global warming?

As your first activity, look at this video, specifically from minute 3.5 to 3.10.
http://video.liveearth.org/video/H2UhOh-mp4

Now answer the following questions:
How do we get water?

Why is water running out?

Now, click on this link and read the text.
http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/patagonia-revisited

Answer the follwoing questions:
1. Who's Jorge Quintero?
2. What did he visit and when?
3. what did he see there? Give a short description.
4. who invited him to join the Arctic Sunrise?
5. What did they want to compare in the second expedition?
6. did they find any differences? What are they?
7. What does Jorge do for a living now? Why?
8. What's happening to the icefields?

Finally, in groups create a poster promoting global warming. It should contained this information:
  • Topic
  • A short explanation of what is happening
  • The Dos and Donts
  • Illustrate

Or, you can create a blog, too if you want. ;)

Horrible teacher!!!...

As usual, here's your homework. (evil laughter) :D

Summer job: wanted

Students,
Imagine you went on vacation to Cancun but you forgot your money at home and you just met the hottest (i.e., the most good-looking) girl/boy ever. Of course, you asked her/him out and you need to get money for the time being.

First, look at the following link to learn how to read the lines of your hands:

http://www.palmistry.com.au/palmistry-lines.html

Read through to identify what the lines mean.

Secondly: In pairs, foresee (predict) your classmate's future by reading his/her hand.

Finally: write a short paragraph stating what your fortune teller predicted. Do you think it will happen?

P.S. Now you can get some money out of this! muahaha
